I have a bunch of mosquito fish in my tank with small sunfish and a bass and various other small fish.

The other day I caught some very small bluegill, about 1/2" to 3/4" and a pack of large female mosquito fish attached them and killed most of them in a few minutes.

I did not know they could, or would do that.

Yes, mosquito fish are very aggressive. They're(to me) nothing more than bully guppies with attitudes, but they WILL kill fish bigger than them. I had one that I caught and it killed a big topminnow. I was torqued off, and then my green sunfish proceeded to make a snack of the mosquito fish.

They are rotten little critters, for sure.  Although, as Chris noted, many of the fish they can't bully find 'em yummy.
