I spent 2 hours prowling Little Cedar lake.  It was a beautiful sunny day.  The small beach area and boat ramp were separated by a large weedy area.  I caught this Yellow Bullhead in the weeds.  The Bluntnose Minnows I caught were all in one sweep of the dipnet at the edge of the swimming area.  I spent the rest of the morning stalking what I think were 2-3" juv. Yellow Perch.  I could never get quite close enough.

Were the bullhead's barbels really that long or is the bag distorting them? Those are some seriously long curb-feelers if that's the real length! I like how the minnow pic captures some of the sheen the fish has when seen in natural light.

There may be a bit of distort, but I remember thinking they seemed long when he was in the bucket. As for the minnow I really wanted to take some home. They were all beautiful. However, they are restricted due to VHS. I need to check a special box on my permit, then get a health check.

Being legal is kinda a bummer sometimes, huh? Fortunately, virtue is its own reward.

I actually found out i don't need the health check($$$$) to catch and keep them.  I catch and take them home based on my bait dealer's licence and wild harvest permit.  If I don't sell any (which I have no plans to do) then I don't need the health certificate.  Woot! I'll prolly check that I plan to collect them on my next permit.

Glad to hear you don't need that health check. Any word on the hobbyist permit you had asked about?
