I cast netted these guy/gals in the Grand Isle area this summer.  Ikeep a 180 gal brackish tank, usually between 1.004 and 1.008, full of local area brackish and brackish-tolerant fish

I love them. I am hoping to find some soon when I can get down to the coast.

Nice fish. Thanks for sharing.

It's helpful to hear that you have success with a variety of fish at 1.004 to 1.008. That would allow more plants to be kept. Brackish tanks that I've kept in the past I've fluctuated between specific gravities of 1.012 and 1.014. I couldn't find any information on salt levels for brackish tanks years ago, so I just split the difference between marine and freshwater.

Later, I was surprised to find that water near the shore in the Gulf of Mexico registered a specific gravity of only 1.001 but it was only a quarter of a mile from a freshwater inlet. I wondered whether the water was saltier farther out from shore or deeper.

I've kept primarily killifish including sheepshead minnow, diamond killifish, longnose killifish, gulf killifish, and marsh killifish. I kept a wolffish for couple of years as well.
