I've had and kept crayfish in my fish tanks that have molted before but is there a way to artificially stimulate crayfish to molt in aquaria?

Thanks

I believe addition of Iodine would do the trick.

Uhm, why? I guess they're easier to peel after you boil 'em?

Why boil and peel them? If they're softies, just dredge in flour/cayenne/salt/pepper and fry 'em up. Mmmm.

Hey, that sounds really good! I wonder if one can buy "softies"?

This would be for fishing bait.

Soft shelled 'crabs' are 'the bomb' for fishing.

Much more so than ones not molting.

Especially for carp, catfish and black bass.

i once kept a queen snake (Regina septemvittata) who would only eat small fresh-molted crayfish.
so i collected bunches of little ones, and each day i pinched off one cray's large claws.
they usually molted about 2-3 days later, so i had a steady supply of softie queen snake food.
