On a recent Catfish Alliance outing I captured an ammocoete. I don't know what species because it is buried in the substrate in a 110g tank (yes, it is "Irate's Tank O' Death"). So, any ideas on how to proceed from here? I don't even know where it is buried - there are a lot of rocks and driftwood and stuff in there.

I don't have any information, but I just wanted to add that I am also interested in this topic (I've only caught one, but unfortunately it jumped out and by the time I found it, it was extra-crispy). They are cool critters.

They are primarily diatom and detritus sifters so as long as to have a good amount of decayed stuff in the tank and do not frequently vac the gravel your fine. I typically still add a gallon of cultured green water or just plain ol' vernal pool / pond water a week though.

RK4-D2 - I'll do just that. I can use water from my Pond-O'-Life to make up water changes.
