Saturday, Dec. 20th – SPECIAL EVENT

Christmas Party and Meeting!

At 6:00pm on Saturday, December 20th, join your friends at the Southeastern Wisconsin Native Fish Club for an evening of fun and festivities! We'll have food, refreshments, native fish for auction, and games. We ask that each family bring a dish to pass, and you must register to attend. To register, contact Brian Torreano at (262) 268-7489 or email him at bt@btdarters.com. You must register by Wednesday, Dec. 17th to attend.

The event site is the Schultz family home in Pewaukee, WI. Their address is: 1192 Turnberry Dr., Pewaukee, WI 53072.

The meeting is free (but we'll need you to bring a dish to pass) and open to the public. It is a great opportunity to have fun, learn about our native fishes, and to meet with people who share an interest in native fishes, like you!

Additionally, we will have a "white elephant" gift exchange. If you'd like to participate, bring a fishy gift valued at less than $20.00, and wrap it in white paper. If you do, you will be able to choose a gift that someone else has brought for the exchange.

For meeting information

Casper,

The party was great! We had our 3 regular attenders and their families. One of our members gave a talk on the Bighead Carp coming up the Illinois River on their way to the Great Lakes. Definitely a scary situation! And we thought the Zebra Mussels were bad! As far as food, we had carved ham, chips and salsa, and chocolate pie! The pie was really good! It was kind of like a brownie in a pie crust. Liked it a lot! The presents were good, too. Given away was a fishy scarf (useful for cold Wisconsin winters), trout salt and pepper shakers, and one of those hang-on-the-wall talking plastic fish! I think I speak for everyone when I say we had a good time!

Next month, we're hoping to have Tom Slawski from the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SeWRPC) come to talk to us about the Mukwonago River watershed. For those of you who don't know about the Mukwonago, it's one of the most pristine riverine habitats in the state. In summer, if you go seining in the river, you can catch about 30 species of fish in an afternoon. It's really a great watershed! I'll put up a new post about the January meeting when plans are firmed-up!

Sounds fun. I appreciate the invite to all the forumees.

If i were further upstream i would have brought along a Christmas stocking filled with Ashy & Coal Miner Darters and some stick fish, fish sticks and tarter sauce. Maybe i could have ended up with those Trout Shakers.

:)

My mother-in-law, my Other Mother, gave me a wooden bass, handmade by a WV prisoner. Very impressive. It does not sing tho. Do you wanna see a pic?

Witness Casper's primary preoccupation. Fishes come second! Unless they are pan-fried.

And yeah, I'd like to see a pic too. I didn't know Leo did time...

Finally got my camera and the fish all here in the studio at the same time.
:)
Very well crafted. Many of the pieces were band sawed apart, finished and reassembled jig saw puzzle style.

Its nice to see something well crafted in this day of mass production.
I think it is a Large Mouth Bass.

I have a call into the prison shop to see if they would be interested in doing a Gar or Red Banded Darter if i supplied pics. It's not signed except with a number so i'm not sure if its Leo or not.

Very cool Casper! If they do a darter for you, let me know how much they charge. I might be interested in having them do a darter for me.
