Iin the past few weeks the craw fish have been real mean.
now the two big ones play tag team and are pining the smaller green one down
by its claws and stay there for 10 minutes or more @ a time.
looks like a normal mating act to me is it? I have never kept crawfish in doors
were I could look at them anytime I please.

Are they belly-to-belly? If so, they are breeding. When most crays breed, they will be belly to belly on their sides or one on top (missionary position? :-s ). I hope the female does not get harassed too much and succumb to stress.

Yes, I'd take her out if you can. The males might kill her with their "attentions."

Yes they are missionary position on there sides for one and on top for the other.
i just cleaned the gravel and changed 15 gallons of water plus maid
three caves for them to hide in. i hope this works.
looks like i need a new small tank right maybe a little 5g or a small 10g.
my green sunfish will eat them for sure he's a pig!!!

Now you'll want to keep an eye on the two males. They might take their frustrations out on each other.

update, 1 male craw lost a first arm right side
another lost two small arms.
the third male craw fish was killed
the female craw fish now has lots of black eggs under her tail.
all is well with the males now.
the one killed was our favorite and only one native in the tank.
He was a rusty craw fish.
This is all due to my lack of knowledge, I haven't keep craw fish
since the Muddy Creek Gang some 30 some yrs ago.

In regards to the excessive violence. How many burrowing sites do the crayfish have? Are they getting enough to eat? Next go try to add more plant material to diet. I do not know why but my crayfishes are much more amicable if plant material content of diet is high.

HI centrarchid,
most of the male just walk the tank, they have rock cakes above gravel line.
im sure they are feed to much they eat 2-3 minnows a week and shrimp from krogers plus hikari sinking wafers for bottom feeders everyday.
our tank only has plastic plants, i have feed then table scrap vegies but they dont seem to like then.
the smallest male crawfish watches over the female with eggs in the last few weeks they hide together they dug under the cave and remove allot of gravel on there own. due crawfish pair up or could i had id they small male wrong?

The crayfishes I think you have may form a short term pairing when the female is very close to laying her eggs and the male can defend her from the attentions of other males. Otherwise they play the feild.

Try not feeding them minnows and shrimp. Also many small feeding daily is better than large irregular feedings.

My crayfish like the Hikari algae wafers. I feed them the algae wafers, and in exchange, the crayfish don't eat my plants. Usually.
