I e-mailed our local game warden today to plan a field trip to his place of business.
Rick Rogers runs ATAC here in warren county.
if any one is interested in a field trip to this area please post and I will do my best to set the
plans in motion or gladly yield to someone with more knowlegde in such matters.
Ohio 45036 area.we will be just about 3 miles from the Little Miami Scenic River.

here is a link to his web site and the stuff he offers
I don't work or have any thing to do with this business so if it's
wrong to post this kind of a link please remove.
thanks tony

Creek Chub-Semotilus atromaculatus
Striped Shiner-Luxilus chrysocephalus
hognose suckers-Hypentelium nigricans

If it's on a weekend, I may be interested. Do you have an update on the date yet?

Ed Bihary,
Yes Ed, Rick said in e-mail his place is open for business. 2nd week of March.
Would you like to come? I know that it is a long drive for you but you could
collect some nice fish from this area. we have many minnows plus others
you could pick up at Rick's not from your area. Ed, per your PM you sent
earlier, I would be interested in collecting with you. I'm still waiting for more members
to join in to make a real field trip. I plan a full day, maybe 4 spots LMR maybe GMR
and it's tribs. Finish the day off at Rick's place. PM if you'd really like to join in or
just posting.
Tony

That sounds good to me, are we eating then or if we want to eat there should we show up early?

If you want to get N. Longears your going to have to go quite a bit North of there. Auglaize drainage in the Lima area will work for those. The Mad is on the way though...

I was gonna do the drown bag thing.
also i dont no were mad river or auglaize drainage is or any spots. i have found Longears in Cowan creek BELLOW Cowan Lake
http://www.dnr.state...bid/6676/Defaul
they look like this one but the ear flap is pointed up to the back more and has a red and white trim around it.
if some one would like to lead this trip i will follow.i would hate to call members in for a trip and only hit 2 or three spots
real local and not have a wide range of fish.i do not mind leading men as i do this every day @ work but this is for fun
and our free time is valued.

I can probably pick out some locations or at least general areas to try to go to but I need to know if this is to be an all day thing or what peoples intentions are time commitment wise.

The longears below Cowan are centrals, you have to be in the great lakes drainage to get actual northern longears in Ohio. The mad and Auglaize would be possible to get to in one day. Maybe the st marys would be better than the Auglaize, it is further south and should have northern longears.

Something for you guys to look at to help you decide where you might want to go, decide what you want to see using this and a Ohio gazetteer...

http://oh.water.usgs.../ohgap/fish.htm

the channel darter map is incorrect, seems to me it is the same as the Johnny map.
