Beautiful. I've seen pictures of them and they have been at the top of my dace wish list for a while. I am hoping to find some at the convention this summer!

The best part of this picture is its representation of many hours of research, and stream sampling. Drewish and Enneacanthus, have put in alot of time, and gas money trying to find this fellow. Congrats!

Awesome fish Drew and congrats on finding them.
Those have always been my personal favorite as far as Phoxinus go.

Thanks. I can't take full credit for it. Ennecanthus and I found a lot of species this past year but MRBD had evaded us for a long time. We tried incorporating collecting with our fishing trips but that didn't work out in regards to finding them. It wasn't until we targetted them specifically that we were able to find them. They are defined as "abundant where found", but the problem is finding them in the first place.

That's fantastic, over the weekend edbihary and I split a bucket full of Southern Redbelly Dace. They don't hold a candle to Mountain Redbellys. I'm up to 12 Southern Redbellys though and hope to get my shoal to 20 of them.

(resurrecting old thread for the benefit of the forum search engine)

I know some collecting spots in Orange County, North Carolina that produce MRBD pretty regularly, and usually in good numbers. If anyone is traveling in search of this species, and willing to drive out to the Hillsborough, NC area, drop me a PM.
