I am working with Daphnia and I have got a problem with its densite conversion. I have daphnia count per liter and now I need to convert it into individuals per square meter. can anyone help how to do?
for example if I have 20 daphnia / liter, then how would be daphnia number per square meter??
ie. 20 daphnia = ?? Daphnia/square meter
If we think unit conversion it is not possilbe since the liter is unit of volume and the square meter is area. but now a days the conversion patter is common !!!

For this to work there must be some standard depth or something (like concrete is measured in yards... but really they mean sqare yards at a standard thickness of I think 3 inches... so if you order 5 yards of concrete you get enough to make somthing 3 inches thick and 5 square yards in area)... so is this based on 1 cm thick... or 10... you will have to have a standard depth before yu can do the conversion.

How are you going to go from volume to area? I think Michael is correct in that you still must have some sort of standard volumetric conversion.

I've been using a handy conversion program called convert.exe for years now, especially for flow and biomass.
