That tesselated darter looks HUGE: almost twice the length of an adult orangethroat ??? (Or am I being fooled by perspective; orangethroat looks small bcuz he's farther away?) If so then I'm impressed with your depth of focus! And your banded killies have some of the nicest color ive seen in captive ones. Everybody looks real happy.

The tesselated darters I have are HUGE. They are my biggest darters. They are 4 1/2" maybe slightly bigger. The orangethroat is about 2".

Reminds me of when the dentist says he "rescued" Nemo off the reef from Finding Nemo... *sigh* my kids watch that movie too much if I am quoting it here.

Hahah my wife said that too. But when cold water hits up here all the tropical strays will sadly die.

what are the other puffers you have there? That is really cool that your able to do this. What other fish have you caught and is there a trip report in the works?

the puffers are bandtails. One puffer was a northern puffer. Im working with biomes and new england aquarium rescuing tropical strays. Ive been out everyday doing this. Catchimg butterfly fish, squirrelfish, puffers, lookdowns, filefish, lionfish (ugh) and others. Good experience. I have a northern pipefish tank setup. this guys are incredible.

also catch mangrove snapper, tautog, pipefish, oyster toadfish, naked goby, menhaden, silversides, sculpins, rainwater killifish, striped killifish, mummichogs, sheepshead minnows.
