Since I have a yearly NY out of state license that now seems useless to me (i hardly pole fish) i decided to get some worth out of it. i have the summer off so my mom and i decided to take a trip out to Schoharie area. I did discover a new spot that unfortunately we cant collect at BUT i did get some really nice photos and learn more about certain fishes preferred habitat. I caught alot of bass. all released....then we realized the batteries were dead so only got cell phone pics.we after that went to the store and bought batteries. I even saved a LARGE smallmouth that was trapped in a pool.

species caught--
rainbow darters
greenside darters
tessellated darters
fantain darters
smallmouth bass
largemouth bass
redside dace
creek chubs
spotfin shiners
central mudminnows
brook sticklebacks

i really hope there is something that NANFA can unite together and try and get some sort of change in the laws. or is that to much to ask? theres gotta be some way to make it happen!!

this spot( a new spot for me) had countless mudminnows and brook sticklebacks

I agree, the pic of the bass still in the water was awesome. Those big smallmouths must have been fun to catch.

Why are the mudminnows you catch in NY and Mass so dark and havilly mottled? the ones I got from Jan on Long Island are a very light brown (similar to a tesselated darters color) with almost no markings. (maybe a dark spot before the tail fin, but he was hiding so i couldn't double check that).
