Can someone help me with locating some wild longear sunfish in Minnesota as I really want to catch them for my home aquarium? The problem is that they are limited to few lakes which I don't know which the lakes that the longear sunfish are found.

this is one of my top 3 fish. as boy i would find them all over my area of ohio, some 30 years later they are in fewer numbers now.most likely due to water quality from humans for sure, low water damns, urban housing, sewer, and crop runoff.
we have members here that you can buy pure stock from. http://forum.nanfa.o...ed-native-fish/

your state has few populations of this species and some say evan fewer pure strains left. i would just buy some and sample fish from your area if it was me.longear sunfish in your state are in few numbers.

i found a article saying they were found to be spawning in the Pine River near the canoe access below the Crosslake dam. gotta love the internet.
longear sunfish were (introduced into Little Rock and Hustler lakes) in Minnesota
here is a link that will help you. of a few collection site, turlte river lake.
