Almost a year after rejoining the NANFA, its about time to introduce myself.
My name is Jim, and I live in the Lansing, MI metro area. I have been keeping aquariums for about 50 years, most of that time with some number of natives in the mix. I was an NANFA member in the 90's for a while, but raising a family, career, etc. kept me from being too active. Right now, I have some o-spots and N. longears, but over the years, I have kept mudminnows, pickerel, pike and muskie (under permit in a public display!) bowfin, all kinds of sunfish, cats and darters. Oh, and a couple of kinds of sturgeon (also under permit). I also have a degree in fisheries biology. And all of this means is I have found a lot of different ways to make a mess of things.
I am retired now, and free to devote some serious time to this hobby. I look forward to participating in the discussions, and I am sure that I will learn more than I bring to the party. There is a lot of sketchy info out on the wild internet, but this forum is very reliable.
After all these years, I still learn something every day. Wouldn't have it any other way.
Another from Michigan
