Three species are slowly being blended together into one according to this article http://www.scienceda...80723190731.htm

White Suckers introduced into waters containing Flanelmouth and Bluehead suckers who do not interbreed on their own, interbreed with both. As a result three species hybrids have occured as hybrids interbreed with purebreds.

Makes you wonder if the "species" we call "white sucker" might have other forced mergers in its past. It's the only extant Catostomus sp over much of its range.
