The 2008 NANFA Convention will be hosted by the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center (TFFC) in Athens, TX (in east Texas). The dates are tentatively set for Thursday, September 25, through Sunday, September 28. The TFFC has just moved into a brand new research and education center and presentation events at the convention will be given in their meeting rooms. More information will be available as details are firmed up.

It seems to me that a family trip is considered to be a legitimate excuse. Check with your school. You shouldn't be a slave to the school.

What do you mean by "in the area"? How far are you willing to drive? I wouldn't say they are.

Thanks, I might drive to San Antonio, my uncle lives there. It looks like a long drive though.
I was hopeing they lived close enough for the groupe to target.

Wouldn’t summer be a better time? No school.

Mighty hot summers in Texas. Many prefer cooler season for both collecting and personal comfort. No matter when some will like it some will not. Hey maybe we could do one in northern NY in February. Actually I'd be happy anytime there's so much to enjoy at a NANFA conference. Scheduling conflicts are my biggest worry every year.

The Texas convention is scheduled for September because it's hosted by a state facility and employees who are much busier in the summer. I know that if I host another convention in Huntsville it will be in June before the heat is too intense, and many fishes are still in color. It all depends on who can host the convention; and they're all good!

Athens' summer's a sizzler.

see http://www.city-data...hens-Texas.html
temp and humidity.

September starts to cool off.

How about May? I guess fish should be breeding.
Do all the baby fish look alike in September?

September is really fine, of course. The problem is that everybody seems to think so, so everybody wants to schedule things at the same time.

Butterflies are flitting about in my yard this morning. It doesn't turn cold around here until January some years, but usually we get a few cool days in November. We only have one month of winter, February, and then it's Springtime again.

I know I'm probably jumping the gun, but ... are there any more details hashed out for the convention yet?
