Just checked out the local(ly located, giant corporate) book retailer and they did have it, for 21 dollars. I think I'll use amazon... Didn't get a chance to flip through it as much as I would have liked, considering my 2.5 year old twins were running rampant through the store, but it but it definitely looks like it would be handy to have around.

Just heard back from Charles in regards to the Florida Collecting Guide. He is getting a new shipment from the printer and will be shipping out in about a week. I think I am definitely going to have to get one. it's only $40 and it helps NANFA(even though I haven't joined yet) so I think its worth it.

i have found h. formosa along the caloosahatchee river in the past. the best places to look are along the tributaries, just bring a dip net and look for dense vegetation.

as for elassomas, you may find evergladei to your south. the corkscrew ecosystem area is pock-marked with little streams, swamps, and ponds. if you can find a few to poke around in, you may just find them. they are one of those fish that got left behind in several lakes and such when all the swamps got drained.

I have heard that there are evergladei in the corkscrew, and h. formosa in one of our local parks that allows fishing. I just haven't had a chance to get out dip-netting yet. Come to think of it, I don't even have a dip-net yet........ Thanks Auburn, for a second vote on the corkscrew. It's only a short drive from me, so i'm definitely going to have to check it out.

You have one of the best local resources right in your own back yard. There are a few of us here in Ft Myers that do a lot of collecting. You know how and where to find me and you are always welcome to ask questions. I know a spot near US41 where you can't dip a net without getting H. formosa.

Thanks Joe, and you know that as soon as I get an opportunity, I'm gonna give you a call. Still gotta get some stuff set up though...... Good to see you over here though.
