Thanks! And the airline works by having the powerhead pull air from the pipe through the airline, creating suction and forcing water into the place that the air once was, beginning a siphon. The nice thing about this is that if the power goes out, it will let air back into the pipe, breaking the siphon and preventing the draining of my tank!

Any ideas for how to best dry out this tank? I've been scooping and soaking up water for hours and it's still wet, heck it even has an 1/8, inch or so of standing water!

Okay, I have the corner weir in, substrate in ( Dirt, aquatic potting soil, sand ), and driftwood in. I'll put up pictures shortly. I did, however, have a question. Could an adult Orangespotted Sunfish live with an adult Grass Pickerel in harmony?

I doubt you'd be able to feed the pickerel. A couple people have reported success in training a pickerel to pellets, but for the most part they require live food and they're not quick about killing it. Given abundant food, my pickerel ate an average of 2 feeders a day (~1 inch convict cichlids for a 5 inch pickerel). A big sunfish will pretty much eat until it can't close its mouth around the last one, so it might take a dozen or more feeders to make sure the pickerel gets his share. Maybe they'd be faster to the hunt if they were huungrier though.

My pickerel is actually a pretty fast feeder. Even faster than the bluespotted (Which is acting exactly like a bluegill).

I doubt it. Hopefully a dinky Orangespotted is too large for the pickerel to get its mouth around - don't adult grass pickerels get to be a foot long? I don't see many O-spots over 4.5 inches. Even so, I find that wild-caught O-spots tend to be skittish, and a big fish is likely to intimidate and stress them out. On the other hand, I can't say I've ever tried that combination in an aquarium. so for all I know they could become best buds. It would probably help if you raised them up together from a small stage.

Well, they will both be small, but I was asking how it would turn out when they're adults. And although Grass Pcikerel do get to be a foot long, they're a very skinny fish. In think an adult Orangespotted would be too tall to fit in one's mouth, but then again, I've never had an adult of either species.

It will not be a comfortable life for the sunfish, while both small or when larger, either way the temptation will be too much for the pickeral. Eventually it will try the sunfish, may not be able to seal the deal but one or both will die..... Whoa, was I just channeling Irate...ohhh!

Okay, thank you. I may just keep the O-Spots with them until the Pickerel get's to be too large. How large would you imagine that would be?

So I got the tank done today. Here's some pictures of the aquascape. The water's still cloudy because I put more sand in, but I'll take some pictures once I get back from the convention and maybe get it planted a little. I had a plethora of problems, one of which is that my overflow won't work at all, but I'll figure that out later. For now, here's a few pictures.

Here's a full tank shot.

Creek chub are indeed fairly agressive, large-mouthed eaters, but they're nothing next to the crappie you have and bullhead which were mentioned. They're bound to get bullied with all those big territorial fish around. You've got more than a dozen fish in there already which will get 10" or more, and are all messy eaters. I don't know, but I think you might be pushing the capacity of a 125 as it is. It really depends.

I don't know if you saw a few of the other posts, but all I have that I'm going to put in there now is 4 Northern Longears, 4 Pumpkinseeds, 1 Central Longear/Pumkinseed hybrid, 1 Stonecat, 1 Northern Hogsucker, 4 Missouri Longears (Got them at the convention, I have 4 extras.), and maybe a few O-Spots. Sadly, my Grass Pickerel died while I was out of town because he only eats live food and the person I had feeding refused to feed live.
