As I said, the darters can be an issue to insure they are getting food. Others are fine.

I feed the tank flake food first so my blacknosed dace & fathead minnows eat their fill before & add food for my darters. It ensures they all get to eat.

I do the same. I start off with worm flakes which start the feeding frenzy and some fall to the bottom so the darters know that it is feeding time. Then I add some tetramin flakes which stay on top for the dace and top minnows. Then I add freeze dried blood worms for the sunfish juveniles and a few small bits of freeze dried tubifax worms. Finally, some crumbled up soft krill for all the fish. Most of the darters are now coming to the top to get food now. I use frozen blood worms sunk to the bottom for the rest of the darters and yesterday I gave them a treat of ultrafine chopped up earth worms for all the fish. The gambusia was stuffing it's mouth with worm bits and saving it for later and you could see it stored inside his mouth. I do this in the morning and feed just what get's eaten. The tank is clean when they are done.

Lol I suppose I can. I actually managed to behaviorally condition darters to swim after anything red. They would go after thermometers, food dye in pipette, etc... I'll try to post the video of 15 to 20 darters swimming in circles after the object. I think that was the best part of my experiment over fright substance in darters.
