Oh man, there's never a camera around when you need one! I went to feed them today, and when I removed the lid of the container the babies are in, I saw one of the little fry perched up on a piece of Duckweed completely out of the water!!! He spooked almost immediately so there was no time to get a camera, but from now on I'm going to be ready for this!!!

Update: Currently 13 fry, lost one that apparently developed some sort of swim bladder problem and was trapped at the surface for the last few days. I separated out the 3 smallest as they were soon to be food for their larger siblings, which are taking Grindals. Smaller ones are still getting skeeters, and both have taken finely powdered flake foods. This was just an experiment at this point since I have no intention of feeding prepared foods while the fry are in only a pint of water, but it bodes well for the future, if there is a future!

if you get a good colony going, ill be happy to trade any of my live foods for one or two of your fish. they are a species that i have always found fascinating and have looked for on a couple occasions in the magroves in south florida. no luck though, mangroves are not easy to navigate on foot...

I will certainly keep that in mind.

If anyone's interested in doing it the hard way: http://www.aquabid.c...ishe
Mine originated in Puerto Rico. I'd grab some of these but I currently have some tropical fry that I'm raising and some Eurasian Pupfish eggs still incubating so I really don't have the time or food to raise anything else right now!
