How large to brown bullheads get in the aquarium? I'm getting to southern brown bullhedsa from Jonah's aquarium tomorrow.

If they have room and food, they'll get full sized. Figure 12-14 inches with a big mouth.

Are they active at all? Or do they hide most of the time?

In my experience it depends on the individual. Though they like to hide, of the two I had one wedged himself into a hollow stump decoration and was rarely seen outside of feeding time. The other rested under a small turtle ledge or the fake log, preferring slightly shading cover to being fully hidden, and heswam around much more often.
