Dustin,

This should be pretty interesting, given the time of year. I'll no doubt drive up Friday night. I'll need to see if my son, Cameron, still wants to come along. I'm just hoping that the closing on this new house doesn't get in the way of this trip. I'll keep watching this thread and let you know as we get closer to the date. That's the best that I can do just now.

Guys, I have some bad news. Fritz has had some scheduling issues come up which will keep him at home during this time frame. Fritz's permits in both North and South Carolina and his knowledge of the area would make this trip much easier and less complicated for all of us. Given this and the timing for the trip interfering with various holiday functions(work parties, last minute shopping, etc), we are going to have to postpone the trip until after the first of the year. I realize I have been pretty non-commtal about this all along and apologize. I hope all of you that were considering tagging along will still come in the early spring. I will keep this post updated as to dates we are considering.

Well, I'm sorry for the dissappointment many must be feeling. But I may be able to make an early 2013 date. A little over a week ago I ripped my tendon off my left knee cap at youth group and had surgery to reattach it so I'll be in a brace for 6 weeks or so. So when this trip came up I was quite dissappointed. But now I have time to get back on my feet. I'm using a walker right now which I'm thinking of converting to a riffle seining station when its current application is finished. The 4 legs would give it good stability. A small 3 foot seine with a small bag and a mechanical lift would allow easy in stream catch id and selection. It seems like it might just be feasable...or is it the effect of my pain meds. We'll see. I'll be watching for updates.

The spring date sounds good to me.

Mike, sorry to hear about your injury, but when life hands you lemons, make a riffle seining station. Good luck on a quick recovery.

Spring it is, then. Hope by then Dustin's wife is doing better, Mike's knee if healed and his mechanical fish catcher is functional.

Probably for the best on my end - doesn't distract me from my finals. Looking forward to the spring!

Feb 15-17, 2013 is the Raleigh Aquarium Soc workshop, including a native fish field trip Friday afternoon (Feb 15), so please don't schedule it for that weekend.

All in all, that's probably good for me, too. I think closing on the new house will be that first week of December any how.

Also, Ditto on the Feb, 15th weekend. I am looking forward to heading up to Raliegh that weekend.

I am disappointed for those of you who would have been able to do this trip in a few weeks, but thrilled because I couldn't do Nov/Dec, but after the new year is a whole new game.

It'll come together when it comes together, and we'll have a good time. ( <=== leading candidate for Official Expedition Motto, so far.)
