Hello, I currently have a 55 gallon open and would really like to get some sunfish. What would be the best grouping of sunfish for this sized tank, thank.
P.S. I'm also a fan of green sunfish warmouth and long ears.

Keep small greens, or you will only have a single green before too long. Warmouth tend to be mellow, and longears can be more aggressive but don't have really big mouths unlike greens.

Just make sure especially with the more aggressive sunfish(such as green),get them when there small/young. It makes a difference
I caught a group of green sunfish once. One was about one inch long while the other 3 were about 2inches long. The 2inch ones beat up and killed a few of my fishes and were super agressive. Got rid of the 2inch ones and kept the 1inch green sunfish which adapted well to the aquarium lifestyle and which I considered to be quite peaceful for being a green sunfish

What about 1 warmouth and 2 dollar sunfish. I know the dollars are smaller but are more aggressive so they might be able to hold their own against the war mouth. Also do these species prefer heavily planted aquariums. Also could a central stoneroller be added to the mix, to help with the algae somewhat.

That should be fine, if all the fish are about equal size.
The more plants, driftwood, ect.. The better :) this will help reduce aggression. Example, if you had a bear tank with just two sunfish. One of the two sunfish will take dominance and constantly will be beating up on the other. By adding plants and driftwood, you would be creating multiple hiding spots, territories, and objections to maneuver through. Plus plants help filter the water, and with enough plants you could out compete algae :)
Sorry I don't have any experiences with stone rollers
