my buddy caught this today in Sarasota, Fla. Off a dock on tiny piece of shrimp. It was about 4 inches long, said they were aggressive and he caught a few of them. Anyone know what this is?

I'm a novice at this stuff, but I do have a Florida/Caribbean field guide. It looks like a Belted Sandfish (Serranus subligarius).
