Wish I had known about this forum (and this outing) earlier. I would have enjoyed doing some collecting with you folks. If you're ever in need of another person with local knowledge, I'd be happy to share. [I've mainly collected on the west side of the bay].
Interested in what you come up with for your efforts.
Cheers!
Shucks! We just missed you.
Welcome to the forum and sorry you missed this. We had a great time. A great many fishes were found and neat places in the area. We had a blast. we'll get a species list up soon with pictures.
We'll do this again sometime so don't feel this was your last chance.

It was a great time. I added three more species to my tanks I think, and caught more that I had never caught before. We also got to see a ton of larval menhaden, which is a plus for me since I study larval fish.
I'm a complete idiot since I didn't take any photos of the 1.2 million larval fish we found. Whats wrong with me? Those photo tanks are made for this type of situation.
I had a great time and would net with these guys any time!

Indeed- and there are actually a few freshwater fish here on the island- also some cool estuarine species like spinycheek sleepers, fat sleepers, and rainwater killifish.DIfishhead = Dauphin Island Fishhead?
Is there still access to the Point A dam near Andalusia- decent fossil collecting spot, I hear.
