I use a canon "A520" with stock lens. I just set it to macro give the subject light and click. I'm not very good with a camera but the canon "A" series takes pretty good auto macro shots.
This camera has given me trouble (mechanical problem with the lens cover) but otherwise I recommend the "A" series camera.

These shots really aren't a favorite but I added one more fish to my photo collection so I'm pretty happy. Photo credit: Me and collection credit to my son and a little red worm.

I took my son fishing over the weekend. He didn't know it but this was a photo opportunity for Lepomis gibbosus (pumkinseed).

Just in case you didn't know, that second sunfish is a hybrid, possibly of gibbosus and macrochirus. Excellent photography!

Thanks for the kind words. I almost didn't post the second photo since I didn't want the dreaded "H" word to come up. Just for the record, the lower (darker fish) was a very large fish (9" total length) and it's similarity to both gibbosus and macrochirus in unmistakable. The top (and brighter) fish was roughly 5" total length.

With a stock lens? I'm now juggling between your camera and a nikon coolpix of some model for my next.

Don't get the CoolPix. I had one as did another of my friends and we weren't terribly happy with it. It drains batteries like no tomorrow. I have a Sony Cybershot that I like for a good point and shoot.
