I am extremely interested in obtaining melanistic sailfin mollies. However I am very much concerned to be 100% sure they are pure and wild, no chance of mongrel genes from escaped dometic stock.

I have no faith in the genetics of fish farm/pet shop mollies. I am dedicated to keeping my mollies pure. I have collected all the originators of my mollies myself in places where there are no fish farms. Want to keep them pure.
But I'm hot to get black ones - if pure. Contact me here [PM] or email mikez01432 [@] yahoo.com

For what it's worth, and NOT with the intention of a hijack, anyone who claims mollies are "easy" have never maintained them long term. True, given what they need, they can be become a self sustaining colony with little hands on required. It's the giving them what they want that gets tricky.
Sure, you'll get a bunch of babies quick enough, but getting a colony up and keeping it up requires more than casual care. Not gonna elaborate here, but lets just say salt has nothing to do with it. In fact live plants are far more important so salt is contradicted. It's all about the minerals. Put a couple pieces of dried coral, limestone rock or a few clam shells in your tank or filter and forget the salt.
Or keep 'em in full marine salt, if you can get green algae to grow in it.

I keep two strains, one from the everglades mangroves [currently in full marine conditions] and one from a fully freshwater retaining pond on the Pan Handle [currently kept in full fresh, no salt added].

your fish is exceptionally dark, looks almost like a store black mollie, if it is a true latapinna , I don't think it's that common, nice fish. and sailfins in stores I browse in latpinnas sell for 6-7 dollars, black sphenops at walmart are 1 dollar, good luck finding a matching mate ,enjoy
