Both from a small creek in Southern Indiana.

This to me looks like a bluegill X green sunfish, both are very common in this creek.

Is this a striped shiner?

Warmouth Kind of funky looking though, but they seem pretty variable.

I dunno, my first thought is hybrid.

Striped shiner is correct.

Young warmouth, striped shiner. Irate will be disappointed that it isn't a green sunfish, of course.

I'm with Ben. I am not sold on that being a warmouth. Looks very little like my warmouth at least especially with that uniform pattern on the side.

Thanks.

Here is a better shot of the sunfish in question.

Yellow on the fins would really help lock in the green sunfish half. Even with that lacking, I don't see warmouth at all.

I can buy that it's not a warmouth, but it sure does not look like any green F1 hybrid that I have seen. Not enough green characteristics. Maybe that is just a function of size though.

Zach's fish looks mighty green to me. I can believe maybe green x bluegill, or green x something.

I'll throw my vote into the mix:

1) Green sunfish x bluegill
2) Striped shiner

In my opinion, that hybrid sunfish is a pretty typical example of a green sunfish x bluegill.

I'm with others, its a hybrid green. Also notice the mouth size and how the mouth lined up above the eye. Green hybrid mouths do not past the eye where war mouth and pure green mouth do pass the eye.

Well if Gerald, Dustin, and Nate say it is a green X. I would certainly go with that.

Looks like the green x bluegill hybrids I catch out Lake Julian, North Carolina.
