Woke up yesterday for work and noticed my dominant male and one of my females in a loving mood. After I got home from work I noticed the fruits of their labor in a crack in the driftwood. This is the first time this has ever happened with fish I've owned, so could someone please tell me what the gestation period usually is with them? I've got a 10 gallon sitting empty and a couple of sponge filters that I could use to raise them with. Should I try to remove the eggs or wait until they hatch to move them?
My spotfins got frisky.

I would remove either the adults or the eggs before they hatch. Adults may eat them quickly once they hatch. I think 4 to 5 days until hatching is typical for most Cyprinella.

Got home from work last night and they look like they're covered in cobwebs. Is that normal or are they dead?

Sounds like fungus has attacked the infertile eggs, but wait and see if there might be some good ones that hatch.
