I may be off base here, but your question made me think about a past experience as a docent at a zoo. We had educational animals, including raptors that we helped take care of (and we certainly had to sign forms saying that the zoo would not be liable if the parrot took a chunk out of us or the iguana smacked us with his tail, etc.). We also walking these through the zoo (e.g. a small hawk on a glove) and discussed the animal with people as they would walk up to us. These people obviously had signed nothing other than the fact that they had bought a zoo ticket which likely had some disclaimers on it.
