Well stocking is complete as of this morning. 6longear sunfish, a warmouth and a green sunfish. I left a lot of the previous fish in the aquarium. I'm going to see how long they last and what size fish are safe. (If any) I also added a couple dozen mosquito fish. So far the green sunfish is the most agressive. He will not leave the warmouth alone.

Pretty fish.  Just curious, why did you scrap the stream tank concept?

The sun fish are not impressing me so far. They stay hidden out of sight. Hopefully this behavior won't last forever.

I have longears in a tank with some temporary tank mates (temporary because they will likely be eaten eventually). The sunfish are quite "front glass" social. Not scared of me at all, so I'd bet the hiding is temporary.

I hope so. I still have two pumps creating current
In the tank maybe they don't like it.

That's a possibility. My tank is lower flow, a fair amount of plants (vals, frogbit, lotus) and some wood. I don't know what you have for structure in yours, but my sunfish do seem to appreciate the wood. I don't notice them shying away from the current, but it's just coming from a Hagen HOB filter. They're in a roughly 46 gallon tank tight now, but will be in a 150 soon. Currently my largest is only a few inches, brought them home from the convention in OK at about an inch, inch and a half. They only seemed skittish when I had them in a quarantine bare bottom tank. I hope your fish warm up to you soon!

Here is the current setup. As you can see look like there is no sunfish!

I think the biggest difference I see between my tank and yours is light level. My tank has a layer of floating plants limiting my light level. Out of curiosity, if you leave the lights off are they less skittish?

The aquarium has two light sources. The first being a 4 foot 10,000k t8 and the second being small led strips that can be dimmed. I have turned off the big light and dimmed the leds very low. I'll sneak back down and take a look. If I'm lucky one or two might be out but normally that's it.

The sunfish and warmouth are starting to really warm up to me now. I moved the stump back and reduced the current. There are currently 5 longear sunfish and one warmouth.

It's been a while since I have updated you guys. The warmouth will actually come out of the water and pull food from my hand now . I'll try and get a video uploaded.

Good looking tank and love that warmouth's enthusiasm. What's his vertical p.r. so far? :)
