I caught this guy in a shallow lake in Wisconsin in a minnow trap. I am thinking rainbow darter?

Rainbow Darters are only found in one lake, that being Lake Phalen, MN. That is most likely an Iowa Darter. The picture isn't super clear, but that is what they look like and would be the right habitat! I don't know if they are in the area, but I suppose it could possibly be a Mud Darter or maybe even a Least Darter, but I am about 98% sure it is an Iowa.

I say Iowa, the head isn't the right shape for a rainbow.

I'm glad they jumped in to help you. I would have just told you it was a fish, get a photo tank.

Has to be either an Iowa or a least but also agree with Michael, make it easier for a more definite answer get some small tank to photo it in...
