I wouldn't dismiss the idea pickerel and bass. Most lakes and ponds by me have a population of both. If the pickerel is something you want give it a try. As for the small fish you should collect from multiple spots to increase the gene pool and increase the chances of the population survival.

The pickerel do well when vegetation heavy and bass density low.  Quarry, if my understanding is correct, does not have those attributes.


Find ways for people not already interested in natives to value them.

Did you see the videos I posted? There is literally more plants in this place than any other place I've dived, Snorkelled, or swam in in my entire life. There are dense plants in every square inch of this place.

Find a video depicting where Grass pickerel and Largemouth bass are present.  Few people snorkel where Grass Pickerel are abundant for that reason.

 

Founding of population in quarry more likely to fail because of pickerel breeding habits and early life history.  Try any way. 


Find ways for people not already interested in natives to value them.
