Just caught this in San Gabriel. Big head. Doesn't have crappie tail lattern, not a war mouth, body shape off, blue sheen on gills. Native? On phone at river, want to take home f not native. Will put back if I get not reply before I have to go.Attached File  image.jpg   99.46KB   1 downloads

The pattern doesn't seem right, though, and it doesn't have the red gill ear.

If it is a war mouth, could it possibly be put in a 65g with 6 longears? It's really pretty.

Definitely a warmouth... Sandwich lives is a 58 gallon tank alone...

Would it work in the community, though?

I have no experience keeping multiple Lepomis in a tank.

They are one of the less aggressive sunfish.

I'm giving it a try. Seems to be going well, most of the longears are ignoring him. The one that isn't ignoring him just kind of quietly looked intimidating and made a short run or two at the warmouth when the warmouth tried to reclaim the longear's spot. I seem to have a batch of fairly peaceful longears and one very calm warmouth.

That's good, but you haven't seen the aggressive side of Lepomis yet :). My 5" female green thrashes around three 6-7" creek chubs like they're shiner fry when she gets moody.
