Nice!

Might be a tad large to fully acclimate to aquarium life. Be sure to give him lots of spots he can skulk around in, he won't come out of hiding unless he feels secure.

Word of warning: he'll eat anything he can possibly fit in his mouth. Even fish fast enough to evade him for awhile will eventually wander close enough to be snapped up.

Ok, so your help has been great so far. I have to say it was awesome going out targeting a specific species (even if it's one that others catch easily) and actually getting it. So any help on where to look if I'm targeting rock bass? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Closest to you will likely be Big Creek down in Maasac County, IL.

It is now time for a shake down.  What gender is this Warmouth?

Any easy ways to tell without pulling him out of the tank?

Look at posterior of dorsal fin at base of rays.  There will be a color patch that appears yellow or orange-red to red.

I'm not seeing any orange or red on him there. All I'm seeing is his full color pattern of brown and yellow/tan.

Can you get a shot with fish facing away from you?

The dark spot and area where those rays insert into body will be more orange to red, especially when viewed from the fishes rear.  Female will appear yellowish and harder to see.  Area I think is display structure male presents to targets behind him when he courts / displays around nest site.  Fish you have I think is female.

My wife is the one in the background providing the commentary. I picked up some of these and some mosquitofish for feeders. They got the other crayfish but this one wasn't having any of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
