Caught few yellow bullheads last night for frying pan. We have been caught yellows with odd colorations before but never seen a dark yellow before. A very dark marbled individual and a freckled individual was caught. A normal yellow is included in the pictures to see comparison. All individuals comes from one location. Somehow I don't believe that brown bullhead is only species with marbled markings.

That's one crazy lookin' bullhead! Probably tasted as good as the others, huh?

What's going on with the one in the middle pic? Does it have some old wounds too?

I know bullheads may make bad aquarium inhabbitants, but i wouldnt hesitate to set up a tank for that neat looking spotted one

Nonsense! My biggest Yellow hasn't eaten a single fish in two months, even though I've had him for 15 months lol. They're great aquarium fish if you keep them with things they can't fit in their mouth, the key is to not add other fish that they even think they might be able to jam down their throat :).

I think it was beaten by a fisherman in the past but it looks like it got hit by a boat propeller. Has a bent spine and bumps but it appears to be healthy and eating very well. I almost thought it was brown because of blotches till I saw the white chin whiskers and long anal fin.

Yup! The freckled one and the one in last pic are over 14" gave me great amounts of meat. Can't wait to fry them tomorrow night. That location always produced odd yellows. Last year I caught few yellows with big black spot on their heads and body.

I'm amazed at how nearly indestructible bullheads are. And I'm with Sean, that marbled ain't the prettiest cat, but I'd love to have the facilities to house one patterned like him. It sounds like you are rehabbing the beat up one; that so?
