So what is this if it was found this morning on a desk railing in north Georgia? Everyone I know is becoming more aware of nature in general, and thinks that I should be able to tell them everything... but I know very little about toads... but help me out here so I can keep my facade of all knowingness going... common name and scientific is possible.

It appears to be a gray tree frog (Hyla versicolor) or a Cope's gray treefrog (Hyla chrysoscelis).

Yes it is indeed a gray tree frog my wife has 4 of them. Neat little frogs, have quite a pleasant call in my opinion. I'm sure you can find a sound bite of their call without much trouble on the net if you look around a bit.
