Hi everyone ,
My group of young 3-4" redbreasted sunfish just arrived the other day and this morning I made the unsettling discovery that small red thread sized worms are hanging out of the fish' anus and seem to disappear and reappear.. From what I've seen/read they look identical to camallanus/nematode worms. I'm pissed lol. How dangerous are these worms? I've heard fenbenzadole is a good one and more available than levamisole. Something about mixing the powdered meds in tank water and then soaking pellets in it? Don't know too much about these worms but they don't sound pleasant..any help would be appreciated!

These are pretty dangerous IMO. Highly contagious, so make sure no nets, siphon go to other tanks without bleaching first (1 part bleach, 20 parts water).

Levamisole is the only way to go, it will get rid of them.
Someone on Aquabid should have it.

Good luck!

My experience is also Levamisole is the only thing that works.
