Correct on the whitetail shiner. Also looks like you got a young warpaint shiner (#4). Also, do I see Tennessee shiners in here too? The sucker is a northern hogsucker.
Thanks! Yeah I did catch some adult Warpaints, so #4 makes sense. I usually get Tennessee Shiners there as well.

Lampreys: American brook, Mountain brook, Ohio and Chestnut all occur in French Broad, but Menhinick's book shows three of those (American, Ohio, Chestnut) only occurring farther downstream near the TN-NC border. Mountain brook is the most likely one farther upstream near Fletcher and Asheville; it extends all the way up to the head of the French Broad near Rosman NC.
