I've got him eating black worms. I put them in with the tweezers, he watches them wriggle, I let go, and he chomps them down.

If you keep this up for a bit, it will be easy to get it to take frozen food as you drop pieces in.

I ended up starting a red wiggler worm farm in a tote in my basement for feeding.  That’s only for the winter.  I have some cut log pieces that I have in their ends in the woods behind the house and tilt them over to collect worms spring/summer/fall.  I also lay down some composted cow manure bags and check under them as well.  They are fun as heck to watch feeding!
