I found this in with the ghost shrimp at my LFS last night, while looking for those elusive bluefin killies. Banded topminnow?

Seminole killifish and looks like a female at that. they get huge 6" or so males have less distinct bars and redish dorsal and anal fins.

I can't tell you how many pet shops I've been to just to look at the feeder tanks (hoping for bluefin and or Seminole killifish)and I've never once found anything other than shrimp. You guys are killing me with all of these low cost finds!

Nice pick up Ed

Humph. I can't even find the damn shrimp in the stores, much less associated bycatch. Of course, the local streams are teeming with 'em.

I never would've guessed seminole killifish based on the illustration in Peterson's Field Guide. Thanks for the ID.

You would have never guessed it looking at some adults in the wild either :)

We'll watch them on video this weekend.

We caught a school of these in FL once that were amazing. We seined a boat ramp and came up with 8 or so 6-8 " fish. I thought we had found the rare schooling redfin pickerel, but they were seminoles. The largest and most impressive killie I have yet to see.

Seminole killis are sold for baitfish (for fishing) in Florida.

They can get big.

I have a couple now about 3" that I found at a LFS.

I hope this one gets that big, and I hope to find it some companions. I check the ghost shrimp tanks every time I enter the LFS.

Some new interesting feeder tank finds last night.

This cichlid was found with the feeder livebearers. I haven't figured out what it is yet. A juvenile firemouth?

Looks like it to me, but I've not seen rainwaters...

I think an LFS has been found near me with several species lately including bluefins. Checking them out when I return from the holidays, but sounds like they get them in with regular ghost shrimp shipments.

You've got a firemouth cichlid, a florida flagfish, and a nice group of bluefin killies. They are not rainwater killies, all bluefins. The ones without any color on the fins are the females. Here are some rainwater pictures... they have distinct edging to the fins.
