The various darters that I have in my tank. All are from the river across town where I live.

1. Juvenile rainbow darter.

2. Adult male rainbow after he caught a live minnow.

3. Adult banded in the background. Juvenile or female in front.

4. Adult banded darter in decent color.

5. Juvenile banded darter coming into color.

6. Female banded darter.

7. Maturing male banded darter with an adult rainbow in the background.

8. Pair of banded on a rock with the front eating a blood worm.

9. Male rainbow darter with just the tip of a minnow's tail sticking out of his mouth.

10. A bit more colorful male rainbow darter.

11. Fantail darter.

Nice! What did darter #2 do with the minnow? I don't believe I have ever heard of a darter going after a large(ish) fish for prey, let alone seen proof!

Thanks! He's a rainbow and he eats them whole. All 3 of my rainbow darters eat minnow fry as well as blood worms and Mysis shrimp. Here's the photo of him with it half down. The banded have no interest in minnow fry, but the rainbows are savages on them.
