Went out to the river yesterday despite it being only about 29F and windy to catch some more fry for the sunfish and stonecat and had decent luck. When the river's high, the netting is the best, when it's low, I only catch things when kick-seining. The river's up about 3' from it's normal low which I showed in the 2nd to last photo. This is the same area as seen in the first high water photo. I caught 29-30 fry which are a mixture of bluntnose minnows and spotfin shiners, a 3" long bluntnose and a 2" rainbow darter. I kept all with the bluntnose being added to my big tank and the darter being added to the smaller tank with my punky. Seems that the color has been scared out of the darter(last photo), but he is now eating blood worms readily.
Look forward to warmer weather and water to get out and kick-seine again.
Good collecting!
