Hi All,

I thought the community would find this interesting. I got the idea to create a composite image of fish species to help with ID's from the Crossley Birding ID Guides. I really like his guides and I thought it would be cool to create some composite images to help with fish ID's. I put a couple of composite images in the fly fishing book that I'm working on, but I think I'd like to try and continue taking pictures of the fish that I catch while out fishing. Thought the community would like the image.

I had to make the image a GIF, so it lost some quality. I also had to resize it to make it fit the postable criteria.

This is a Green Sunfish Lepomis cyanellus

Really had to drop the size and resolution on this bluegill image.

Pretty cool.

Do you ever run across Redbreast Sunfish in your area of Texas? I was looking for some when I was down there recently but struck out.

I have! I have found them on the east side of Sam Houston National Forest, as well as in tribs on the northeast side of Lake Livingston. They are a sunfish that isn't native to Texas, but a beautiful one all the same. They are a fun fight on the fly rod.

First image has a hybrid in it.

Find ways for people not already interested in natives to value them.

Yessir! Were you referring to the one in the top left that is marked "hybrid"? or do you see another one? thanks for checking it out.

I did not see the text. Need glasses here or my brain processes fish images at exclusion of ability to recognize symbols.
