Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum, and new to keeping North American fish. Here is a brief history. I have been in the aquarium hobby for many years, and focused solely on new world cichlids, primarily on South American fish. Up until recently I have maintained a decently sized fish room, breeding and observing fish. However, due to my work travel schedule, I decided it be best that I break down the fish room and keep one semi large display tank. I sold off just about everything in the fish room, and purchased a brand new 300 gallon tank and built it into a wall in my basement just a couple of months ago.
Now that the tank has been running for a little bit and stocked with some of my South American favorites, I see myself "bored" in the hobby, without focusing on breeding or caring for many different species. I have always dreamed of one day owning a "native" tank, and think now might be the time to do so. So, with all of that being said here is a little bit about the tank:
- 300 Gallons (96"x30"x24")
- Trickle filter system filtering 2500+ gph
- AI Freshwater Prime lighting system
- Scape consists of wood, rock, and a sandy substrate (will probably add plants if I go this North American route)
I'd like to come up with a couple different stock list ideas for this tank. I currently live in Pennsylvania, but am from Georgia so maybe fish from either one of those states. Different sunfish have always been a priority, possibly a school of chubs, or similar. Anyways.... What do y'all think? Attached is a picture of the set up as it currently sits
