Which of the following small sunfish can be kept together in a community tank of small sunfishes, given a tank large enough to contain them all?

Northern Longear
Dollar
Bantam
Orangespotted
Bluespotted
Banded
Blackbanded

A better form of the question: which of these should be omitted from such a community tank, and why? Thanks.

As long as you had a big enough tank, there is no reason I see other than territoritoriality and the "If it can fit in the fishes' mouth" rule, I see no reason why these couldn't be together in a aquarium.

Dollar sunfish will be more territorial and aggressive in nature. I can't speak to the other Lepomis, having not seen or kept them.

Adult male bluespots are pretty aggressive so may hang with the Lepomis. Blackbanded sunfish are pretty picky in what/how they eat. If you are willing to take the time making sure they get food, it may work. I have yet to keep a Banded sunfish, but I'm guessing they have a similar temperament as bluespots.

The most aggressive of that group by far will be the dollar sunfish and the northern longears will be second. The rest are relatively docile in my experience as far as sunfish go. Also the blackbandeds are so timid they some times have a hard time competing with other sunfish species for food. I personally would not keep them with any lepomis and usually keep mine in a species tank. I have housed them with bluespotted before without any problems though and would think they would also be ok with the banded sunfish.
