Good evening.   For some time now I have been interested in keeping  bluespotted sunfish.   I was wondering  what aquarium size would I need to keep a group of them in.  Also I read that they like heavily planted tanks and was wondering what are some good plants to use?

In my experience, a pair is fine in a 10 gal., and a nice group would be fine in a 20 long. I would suggest adding some driftwood, since mine typically use that for cover more than the plants (though that could be due to another species occupying the plants). As for the plants, really whatever will work with the amount of light you can give and the temperature will be fine. I personally like Rotala, Cabomba, Anacharis, and Crypts especially for smaller tanks, and absolutely love my radican swords in my 40 breeder. If you want a community tank, Bluespotted Sunfish get along great with Bluefin Killifish and Golden Topminnows.
