I have had a single E. chaetodon for years now. As I'm in Europe, these fish are extremely rare and unfortunately I have been unable to find more. I can possibly get E. Gloriosus, can they be kept together?

Yes, they can be kept together. Would be interesting to see what hybrids look like.
Find ways for people not already interested in natives to value them.

There's a guy in the US who lives near me that breeds E. Chatedon - I wonder if getting them shipped would be possible.
