This is a pretty common plant around here. not particularly spectacular or anything, but it grows well in my pond. Can anybody tell me what it is?

Lizard's tail, Saururus cernuus.

Cool, even for a plant.

cheers,
Dave

Dave is right, is is Saururus. I am pleased that it seems to be all over the swamp that is next to my house (the swamp where the frogs keep me up at night). It hasn't bloomed yet, though.

Supposedly this species can be kept submerged in aquaria under high light. I've tried it with limited success. I may try again, though.
