I thought this was a Johny Darter, since I have only a few types of darters in my river. No mention of saddle darters. This is a list of fish from the area. After looking at Johny darters, I don't think it looks like them anymore.
Killier (here at the forum) thinks it might be a saddle darter.

a first I thought that but then I saw the "flatish" head which made me rethink that it was a rainbow
